Queer Joy Disco
What is it?
QJD is a partnership event hosted by NWT & Suffolk Pride to create an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their allies to have a relaxed night “OUT OUT”. Occurring in the upstairs bar after a performance, this encourages people to come out for a show but stay for a dance. The latter is something they may be struggling with, but with QJD, you can sit and chat, have a dance and a drink (if you want to). You’ll also get the chance to chat with the stars of the show as the performers will join in on the fun, being able to let their hair down in a safe space, not too far from where they’ve just performed.
What’s on offer is a whole night out, finished before midnight. Without being overly tired or hungover in the morning.
Resident DJ Tom of Swindon is on the decks, blasting out the tunes and curating just the best vibe.
This is a free event.

Who is the New Wolsey Theatre?
The New Wolsey Theatre has been at the heart of Ipswich’s cultural scene for over 25 years. Building on the legacy of The Arts Theatre and the Wolsey Theatre, they reopened in 2001 with a mission to create, produce, and present high-quality, diverse, and accessible theatre for all.
They offer a dynamic programme of their own productions, collaborations with artists locally and internationally, and the best touring performances across the UK. Through their Creative Communities programme, they ensure everyone has the opportunity to experience and take part in live performance.
At the core of everything they do is a passion for live theatre, community engagement, and sustainability, making for a vibrant, much-loved venue and a creative hub for all.

Who is DJ Tom of Swindon?
Our lovely resident QJD DJ. Between running back and forth from the big city to the countryside, he’s a talented writer and a vinyl-obsessed selector with a passion for pop gems from the 80s, 90s and 00s, lovingly rescued from charity shop shelves. When he’s not crate-digging for forgotten singles and uncovering the stories behind them, he’s spinning tunes at iconic queer venues like Dalston Superstore, and Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Expect nostalgia, deep cuts, and dancefloor joy.
